I am a professional guitarist, songwriter and qualified tutor living in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. The last fifteen years have been spent teaching and playing numerous styles of music, including folk, rock and pop. A wide assortment of students keeps me on top of all the current trends in music and guitar.

I have been performing since my mid-teens and I started teaching 12 years ago! For several years I have been employed as a music and ICT tutor in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. I now teach in Barnsley and Pickering. Many students have since gone on to make music their life, gigging in bands. Other successes have included pupils that have gone on to Higher Education Courses at colleges and Universities. I also have a great deal of experience working with Special Needs.

I am open to anyone who has a desire to learn, regardless of age or ability. My practice is divided equally between Acoustic guitar and Electric guitar tuition. Students can learn for fun or take exams. More than anything, I try and encourage the enjoyment of music!

The music rooms are packed with guitars and books. For lessons and recording I use an Apple Mac with Pro Tools 7 software and a variety of plugins. I also encourage students to try their hand at writing and recording their own material and give tuition in various recording packages.

I’m also songwriter and a performer with the band ‘Hotel Brown’ and also 'Rory Garforth & Adam Myers'. I am a member of the Registry of Guitar Tutors.
